Techno kayō

Techno kayō emerged in late 1970s Japan as a direct response to new synthesizer and computer technologies. The form merges the melodic structures and vocal styles of mainstream Japanese pop (kayōkyoku) with the electronic textures pioneered by acts like *Kraftwerk*. It is characterized by a reliance on analog synthesizers, drum machines, and vocoders, often juxtaposed with clean, melodic singing.
