Terrorcore

Terrorcore (often shortened to terror) is the most extreme branch of hardcore techno, named in the mid-1990s as Dutch gabber producers pushed tempo and distortion past the limits of the parent style. Tracks run at roughly 200 to 300 beats per minute, built on crushed, overdriven kick drums, minimal or absent melody and a dense collage of samples taken from horror films, news broadcasts and B-movies. Developed by *Drokz*, who coined the name, and carried by *Noisekick*, *The Destroyer* and *Delta 9*, it remains a fixture of Dutch and German hardcore parties.
