Thrashcore

Originating in the early 1980s, thrashcore (or fastcore) is a subgenre of hardcore punk that accelerated the tempo and aggression of its antecedents. It is sonically defined by exceptionally fast drum patterns, often employing blast beats, paired with distorted, down-tuned guitars and raw, shouted vocals. Song structures are deliberately brief and volatile, rarely exceeding a minute and a half, reflecting an ethos of intense, concentrated bursts of energy. This form bridged the gap between hardcore punk and more extreme metal subgenres like grindcore and powerviolence, shaping the trajectory of underground aggressive music by establishing new precedents for speed and structural brevity.
