Trance Metal

Trance metal is a fusion of heavy metal with trance and Eurodance electronics, in which repeating synthesizer arpeggios, four-on-the-floor pulses and euphoric melodic hooks are combined with down-tuned guitars, double-kick drumming and vocals that alternate death growls with clean, anthemic singing. Tempos typically sit between 130 and 160 beats per minute, and songs are structured around builds and drops borrowed from club music. Formed in the mid-2000s, principally in Japan and Finland, the style draws on melodic death metal, industrial metal and dark ambient as much as on its electronic namesake.
