Trap latino

Trap latino

Trap latino is the Spanish-language form of trap music that developed in Puerto Rico and the Latin diaspora from 2015, adapting Atlanta trap production to the reggaeton industry. Its records combine Roland TR-808 drums, minor-key piano and string loops and Auto-Tuned melodic rapping with the explicit street subject matter, known locally as maleanteo, that mainstream reggaeton had softened. Pioneered in underground mixtapes by *Anuel AA*, *Bryant Myers* and *Almighty*, the style was carried to global scale by *Bad Bunny* and *Ozuna*, becoming the dominant commercial sound of Spanish-language popular music in the late 2010s.
