Uplifting Trance

Uplifting trance is a subgenre of trance that crystallized in the Netherlands and Germany at the end of the 1990s, organized around euphoric major-key melody and emotional release. Productions run at roughly 138 to 142 BPM on a four-on-the-floor kick, with rolling offbeat basslines, layered supersaw arpeggios and long, string-laden breakdowns that suspend the beat before an anthemic climax. Vocals, when present, are delivered by featured singers in a pop-song format. The style became the commercial mainstream of trance in the 2000s and retained a dedicated festival and radio audience after harder and slower variants split away.
