Vaportrap

Vaportrap is a fusion of vaporwave and trap that emerged on the internet in the early 2010s. It retains vaporwave's sample-based construction — chopped fragments of 1980s and 1990s pop, smooth jazz, video-game soundtracks and computer operating-system sounds, pitched and looped into hazy textures — but anchors it to trap drum programming: rapid hi-hat rolls, deep 808 bass and sparse, hard snare hits. Where classic vaporwave drifts without a beat, vaportrap is rhythmically assertive and mixtape-oriented, and its tracks are typically short, loop-based instrumentals circulated through Bandcamp and SoundCloud rather than clubs or radio.
