Vikingarock

Vikingarock is a Swedish rock style that fuses the direct attack of Oi! and street punk with rock and roll, Teddy Boy influences and Scandinavian folk melody. Its songs treat Swedish history, Norse mythology, rural life and national pride, sung in Swedish with massed choruses. The style was defined by *Ultima Thule*, formed in Nyköping in 1984, whose records sold in the hundreds of thousands in Sweden in the early 1990s. The scene around the genre has been persistently shadowed by controversy over far-right associations, which its leading bands have publicly rejected.
