Wave

Wave is an electronic music genre that emerged on SoundCloud and Tumblr in the early 2010s, built from trap, cloud rap, grime and witch house. Its tracks combine reverberated synth pads, icy melodic leads and deep Reese bass with sparse 808 percussion, chopped vocal fragments and heavy sub-bass, producing a melancholic, atmospheric sound oriented more toward emotional immersion than club function. Coined by the London producer *Klimeks* and spread by the #Wavemob# collective and promoter *Plastician*, wave later fed into the harder, festival-oriented style known as hardwave.
