Welsh Folk Music

Welsh folk music is the traditional music of Wales: Welsh-language song, the harp-centred cerdd dant tradition of sung counter-melodies over harp patterns, plygain carols, and dance tunes for fiddle and harp played at twmpathau. Preserved through eisteddfod competition, chapel culture and the antiquarian collections of the Welsh Folk Song Society, it was revived from the 1960s by singers such as *Dafydd Iwan* and *Meic Stevens* and by groups including *Ar Log*, who rebuilt a Welsh-language traditional scene around the #Sain# label and the festival circuit.
