West Coast Breaks

West Coast breaks is the breakbeat sound that grew out of the 1990s California rave scene, fusing Florida breaks' funk samples with hip-hop drums, acid lines and West Coast G-funk low end. Anchored in Los Angeles and San Diego warehouses, it was carried by *The Crystal Method*, whose "Vegas" defined the sound internationally, and by DJ-mix documents like *Simply Jeff*'s "Breakbeat Massive". Through acts like *脺berzone* and *DJ Dan* it fed directly into American big beat and the EDM festival era.
