Jazz (We've Got) / Buggin' Out

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Standing as a definitive cornerstone of the Native Tongues movement, this double A-side perfectly illustrates the seamless fusion of hip-hop and traditional jazz. 'Jazz (We've Got)' utilizes an incredibly smooth sample of Jimmy McGriff's 'Green Dolphin Street', over which Q-Tip effortlessly demonstrates his laid-back, conversational flow. It was highly instrumental in pushing East Coast hip-hop toward a more sophisticated, intellectually engaging, and musically complex direction.
