Album Notes & Community Reviews
Anchored by a stark, funereal piano arrangement, the track showcases Anohni's stunning, tremolo-heavy vocal delivery grappling with profound fears of death and purgatory. Its deeply haunting, emotionally devastating atmosphere helped 'I Am a Bird Now' secure the prestigious Mercury Prize. The song stands as a profoundly vulnerable masterpiece of modern chamber-pop.
