Album Notes & Community Reviews
A massive global smash hit that blends driving indie-pop sensibilities with historical lyricism. Dan Smith wrote the track about the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, layering booming percussion and choral chanting to match the apocalyptic subject matter. It peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart and spent a record-breaking amount of time on the Billboard Hot 100.
