Album Notes & Community Reviews

Serving as a radical showcase for the pioneering electric guitar work of Charlie Christian, this visionary recording largely sidesteps the traditional brass-heavy big band sound. The fluid, horn-like single-note runs and advanced harmonic ideas presented here profoundly influenced the imminent bebop revolution. It remains a crucial, highly studied document bridging the gap between swing rhythm and modern jazz improvisation.
