Album Notes & Community Reviews

Navigating a complex, sophisticated popular melody, the vocalist demonstrates her unparalleled ability to stretch and delay phrasing for maximum emotional impact. Supported by a stellar small-group ensemble featuring Teddy Wilson, the interaction between voice and instrumental obligatos is remarkably intimate. The recording is a textbook example of jazz interpretation elevating a standard ballad into profound art.
