Billy Idol's recording of 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' was cut for his 2001 'Greatest Hits' collection, closing a long circle: songwriter Keith Forsey had first offered the song to Idol in 1985 before Simple Minds took it to 'The Breakfast Club'. Idol's version keeps the synth-rock architecture of the original while roughening it with his signature snarl and guitar attack.
