Diverging wildly from her typical avant-garde electronic sound, this recording is a remarkably faithful cover of a 1951 Betty Hutton big band track. The song's arrangement famously alternates between hushed, tiptoeing verses and explosive, screaming brass-heavy choruses. Bolstered by a highly celebrated, Spike Jonze-directed music video heavily inspired by Jacques Demy musicals, it unexpectedly became the artist's highest-charting single.
