Heart of Glass / Rifle Range

Originally written years earlier as a slow, reggae-tinged demo, producer Mike Chapman urged the band to restructure 'Heart of Glass' into a driving disco anthem using a Roland CR-78 drum machine. The fusion of punk-adjacent new wave attitude with European synthesizer pop alienated some early CBGB purists but propelled Blondie to global superstardom. Debbie Harry's detached, cool vocal delivery perfectly offset the song's relentless groove.
