Red Cross / Tiny's Tempo

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Featuring the pioneering alto saxophonist in one of his earliest sessions as a leader, this release highlights the breakneck tempos and dense harmonic architecture of the nascent bebop movement. The intricate, rapid-fire unison lines heavily challenged the standard swing rhythms of the previous decade. The recording is a crucial document of the musical revolution that transitioned jazz from dance halls into cerebral listening rooms.
