Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded just weeks before his death, the founding father of the Delta style delivers a raspy, deeply weary vocal performance reflecting his failing health. The acoustic guitar work remains intensely rhythmic and complex, proving his instrumental command had not diminished. The poignant, autobiographical nature of the lyrics makes this one of the most emotionally devastating artifacts in the entire pre-war blues canon.
