The Mother We Share

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Serving as the debut single for the Scottish trio, this track perfectly encapsulates the blog-era synthpop revival. The production relies heavily on glittering, retro-futuristic synthesizers and aggressively chopped, stuttering vocal samples that serve as the main instrumental hook. Lauren Mayberry's pristine, emotionally resonant vocal delivery cuts through the electronic sheen, helping the track bridge the gap between underground blogs and mainstream alternative radio.
