Album Notes & Community Reviews

A massive, grandiose pop arrangement driven entirely by a sweeping string section and orchestral bells rather than standard rock instrumentation. Co-produced by Brian Eno, the lyrics are written from the perspective of a deposed king鈥攈eavily inspired by the French Revolution鈥攔eflecting on his lost empire and impending demise. The track became a colossal global hit, winning the Grammy Award for Song of the Year.
