Initially largely ignored upon its initial pressing, 'Da Funk' gradually gained legendary status as an influential force in the French touch movement. Built around a grimy, G-Funk inspired synthesizer riff and a pounding 909 drum machine, the track eschewed the polished sounds of traditional house music. Its Spike Jonze-directed music video, featuring a man in a dog mask wandering New York City, further cemented its iconic status.
