I Can't Give Everything Away

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Serving as the closing track on his final studio album, this lush, synthesizer-heavy composition features a poignant harmonica sample directly lifted from his 1977 instrumental 'A New Career in a New Town'. The song acts as a self-aware, elegiac farewell, acknowledging the artist's impending death while attempting to offer solace to his audience. The soaring, heavily processed saxophone solos provide a sense of atmospheric closure to one of rock music's most storied discographies.
