Album Notes & Community Reviews
Introducing Mark Knopfler's pristine, highly technical finger-picked Stratocaster tone to the world, this remarkably clean recording cut sharply against the era's dominant punk aggression. The lyrical homage to struggling working-class jazz musicians resonated globally, immediately establishing the British group as formidable mainstream contenders.
