Stan

Album Notes & Community Reviews

A storytelling tour-de-force that samples the melancholic chorus of Dido's 'Thank You' over a heavy, rain-soaked bassline produced by The 45 King. Eminem structures the song as a series of increasingly deranged fan letters, culminating in a tragic murder-suicide, exploring the dark intersection of celebrity worship and mental illness. The song's profound cultural impact famously resulted in 'stan' being added to the Oxford English Dictionary as a term for an obsessive fan.
