Third of May / Ōdaigahara

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Ending a massive six-year hiatus, this sprawling, nearly nine-minute composition functions as an intricately arranged folk-rock suite. The lyrics serve as a deeply personal meditation on the passage of time and the shifting dynamics of friendship between frontman Robin Pecknold and bandmate Skyler Skjelset. The song moves gracefully between dense, driving acoustic guitar harmonies and expansive, cinematic orchestral passages.
