Album Notes & Community Reviews

Written and recorded by Mark Foster while he was working as a commercial jingle writer, this track achieved massive global success through its striking lyrical dissonance. Despite the remarkably upbeat, summery indie-pop instrumental, the lyrics narrate the dark thoughts of a homicidal teenager planning a mass shooting. It became a ubiquitous radio staple and eventually peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
