Album Notes & Community Reviews

As his debut solo single, this track introduced the world to Frank Ocean's unique brand of atmospheric, narrative-driven R&B. Co-produced with Tricky Stewart, the song details a surreal encounter with a dental student at Coachella and the resulting mutual drug use. The lyrical metaphor of emotional numbness resonated deeply, establishing him as a prominent, forward-thinking voice in the genre.
