Album Notes & Community Reviews
Stripped away conventional pop instrumentation in favor of a sparse, stomping rhythm heavily inspired by high school marching bands and pep rallies. Produced alongside Pharrell Williams, the track was written as a direct, boastful response to a disparaging comment by Courtney Love. Its infectious, spelling-based hook made it the first digital download to ever sell one million copies in the United States.
