A dark, propulsive masterpiece that defined the aggressive chic of the early-2000s New York indie rock explosion. The track is built on the tense, angular guitar interplay between Daniel Kessler and Paul Banks, anchored by Carlos D's incredibly melodic, disco-influenced bassline. The cryptic, disjointed lyricism and clinical fashion aesthetic drew immediate, heavy comparisons to Joy Division and the bleak atmosphere of late-70s post-punk.
