BTSTU

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Self-released on MySpace before catching the attention of XL Recordings, 'BTSTU' is a foundational text of modern alternative R&B. Jai Paul's fiercely experimental production blends aggressively side-chained bass, chaotic sampling, and Prince-inspired falsetto vocals into a stunningly futuristic sonic collage. The track heavily influenced the next decade of pop and electronic music, despite Paul remaining a largely elusive figure.
