Brought to the band by Grace Slick from her time in The Great Society, 'White Rabbit' uses the imagery of Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' as a thinly veiled metaphor for the emerging psychedelic drug culture. The track's creeping, snare-driven rhythm was directly modeled after Ravel's 'Boléro', building intense, ascending momentum toward its climax. It became one of the defining anthems of the 1967 Summer of Love.
