Album Notes & Community Reviews
Originally issued as an exclusive French release titled 'Licht und Blindheit' before gaining wider distribution, 'Atmosphere' is characterized by its funereal pace and majestic, icy synthesizer washes. Ian Curtis's baritone delivery creates an aura of solemn detachment that serves as an elegy for the band's brief existence. The track's stark production by Martin Hannett heavily emphasizes the spatial isolation of each instrument.
