Album Notes & Community Reviews
Utilizing a grandiose Shirley Bassey sample, this cinematic track sharply pivoted from material braggadocio to conscious critique of the African conflict diamond trade. It won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Song and signaled West's increasing sociopolitical ambition as a lyricist.
