Jesus Walks / Heavy Hitters

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Driven by a militant, marching snare beat and a powerful gospel choir sample from the Arc Choir, the track boldly defied radio conventions by aggressively asserting its religious themes. West's impassioned lyricism critiques the commercial music industry's reluctance to embrace open spirituality outside of violence and hedonism. Its massive commercial and critical triumph earned the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song.
