Backseat Freestyle

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Functioning as a crucial narrative pivot within 'good kid, m.A.A.d city', this track finds Kendrick Lamar adopting the ignorant, boastful persona of his teenage self. Hit-Boy provided the booming, bass-heavy beat, which is punctuated by a repeating, reversed vocal sample. Despite its satirical context within the album, the song's infectious energy made it a massive standalone club hit.
