Album Notes & Community Reviews
A masterful, stadium-sized fusion of dance-pop and gospel music, backed powerfully by the Andra茅 Crouch Choir. The track's groundbreaking music video, featuring burning crosses, stigmata, and a Black saint, provoked massive condemnation from the Vatican and cost Madonna a lucrative Pepsi endorsement. Despite the backlash, it solidified her legacy as a peerless cultural provocateur and pop auteur.
