Album Notes & Community Reviews
Inspired by Dalton Trumbo's anti-war novel 'Johnny Got His Gun', 'One' marked a mainstream breakthrough for Metallica, aided by the band's very first music video. The composition is a masterclass in progressive metal structuring, transitioning from somber, clean guitar arpeggios into an explosive, machine-gun-like double bass drum climax.
