Album Notes & Community Reviews

Anchored by Louis Johnson's iconic, pulsating bassline and a tense, sparse drum beat, the song details a paranoid narrative regarding obsessive groupies and false paternity claims. Producer Quincy Jones famously clashed with Jackson over the track's extended intro, but Jackson insisted it was necessary to compel him to dance. The legendary performance of the song at the 'Motown 25' television special debuted Jackson's signature moonwalk.
