Album Notes & Community Reviews

A pioneering document of the Boston post-punk scene, this debut single introduced Mission of Burma's muscular, fiercely intelligent approach to loud guitar rock. Written and sung by bassist Clint Conley, 'Academy Fight Song' merges tense, shifting tempos with cryptic lyrical rebellion against institutional conformity. The band notably featured Martin Swope explicitly credited as a tape manipulator, heavily influencing the future trajectory of noise and alternative rock.
