Album Notes & Community Reviews

Characterized by a gentle, rolling fingerstyle technique and an uncommonly warm vocal delivery, this release sharply diverges from the aggressive intensity of contemporary Delta bluesmen. The artist weaves complex syncopated melodies that mask morbid lyrical content regarding murder and dissatisfaction. The sides represent a pinnacle of the sophisticated Piedmont acoustic tradition prior to the Great Depression.
