Album Notes & Community Reviews

Representing the absolute synthesis of New Order's melancholic post-punk origins and their fascination with New York club culture, this track became an international alternative dance staple. Characterized by Stephen Morris's rigid sequencer programming and Peter Hook's melodic, high-register bass playing, the 12-inch remix by Shep Pettibone notably propelled it into heavy club rotation. It perfectly encapsulated the bittersweet, romantic yearning of 1980s synthpop.
