Album Notes & Community Reviews
A profound, melodic apology directed at the mother of Erykah Badu, following Andre 3000's highly publicized separation from the neo-soul singer. The track's woozy, reversed drum loop, distinctive wedding march interpolation, and deeply sincere lyricism elevated Southern hip-hop into universally resonant pop music. It secured a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group and dominated international airwaves.
