Album Notes & Community Reviews

Written as a profoundly emotional tribute to a deceased friend, the track is universally recognized as one of hip-hop's greatest elegies. Pete Rock's production expertly intertwines an infectious, wailing saxophone sample from Tom Scott with a thick, driving boom-bap rhythm. The result is a beautifully melancholic yet incredibly groovy production that defined the golden age of jazz-infused East Coast rap.
