High and Dry / Planet Telex

by Radiohead

High and Dry / Planet Telex cover art

Originally recorded as an acoustic demo years earlier during the 'Pablo Honey' era, this track was polished and included on 'The Bends' to satisfy label requests for a radio-friendly hit. A straightforward acoustic rock ballad with sweeping vocal melodies, Thom Yorke famously detests the song, stating it was coerced onto the album by management. Despite his disdain, it became one of Radiohead's most accessible and enduring early singles.
