Album Notes & Community Reviews

Propelled by an intensely aggressive, driving bassline provided by Flea and John Frusciante's reverse-tape guitar solo, this track defined the band's massive 1990s breakthrough. The lyrics reflect Anthony Kiedis's philosophical realization regarding the virtues of altruism and letting go of material possessions. Assisted by its striking, silver-painted music video directed by St茅phane Sednaoui, it became a defining anthem of the alternative rock era.
