Album Notes & Community Reviews

Co-written and produced by Tricky Stewart, this massive global hit famously utilizes an undeniable drum loop sampled directly from a stock Apple GarageBand preset. Originally offered to Britney Spears, the track was ultimately secured for Rihanna, completely redefining her sound into a sharper, more aggressive pop-R&B aesthetic. Jay-Z's opening rap verse and the incredibly catchy 'ella-ella' vocal hook ensured the song's prolonged dominance over 2007 radio.
