Chandelier

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Originally intended to be pitched to artists like Rihanna or Beyoncé, the Australian songwriter instead kept this soaring, emotionally devastating track for herself. The song contrasts an incredibly massive, anthemic pop chorus with dark lyrical themes detailing the exhausting, self-destructive cycle of party culture and alcoholism. Its music video, featuring a virtuosic contemporary dance routine by a young Maddie Ziegler, became one of the most iconic visual pieces of the decade.
